Ruth Funk Textile Center Exhibit
The Hmong ‘Story Cloths’ Exhibition is now open at Ruth Funk Textile Center. We attended the textile exhibit opening and thoroughly enjoyed seeing the clothing and flower cloths. The Cloth as Community is a program of Exhibits USA, a national division of Mid-America Arts Alliance and The National Endowment for the Arts. I encourage you to see while it is here in our area between now and December 16th, 2018. Cloth as Community features 28 textiles—flower cloths and embroidered story clothes—by those in the Hmong community. Here is a link to Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts at Florida Institute of Technology website for more information on the exhibit http://textiles.fit.edu/current-exhibitions.php
In addition to showcasing the unique talent of Hmong artists, the Center’s galleries will also feature photographs of contemporary Hmong women and children in traditional dress by local artist Peter Kastan.
